We’re already into the second month of 2016, and its going to be a busy one! Here’s our February newsletter with everything going on in the Spark Plaza community.

Kick off the month with LaunchTN’s class of 2015/16 at the Kingsport program stop during their Tennessee Statewide Roadshow. This is a great opportunity to meet some of Tennessee’s most successful entrepreneurs and startup companies. The Roadshow will be hosted at the Meadowview Convention Center on Monday, February 1 at 4:30p.m. The event is free but you must pre-register at

On Friday, February 5th, it’s time for our First Friday meetup! This month we’re entering a pixelated world of live-video streaming. We will be looking back at how far live-streaming devices and projects have come, and testing out some new tools and apps like Periscope, Google Hangouts, LiveStream and Facebook. If we’re lucky, we might even call in some remote guests to join in our discussion!

As always—yes—there will be food. Unfortunately, the Donut House (home of the infamous First Friday maple-bacon donut) has closed. So the women of Spark Plaza have decided to take on the task of providing breakfast, which will be served at 9:00 a.m. Lunch is at noon, courtesy of Portico, with Spark Plaza: LIVE to follow.

This month’s First Friday will be sponsored by Rody Polis, a special effects video production studio that started as a Kickstarter project and is now launching into its own business. They will be giving away prizes estimated at a $400 retail value!

Next on our calendar is the TriJS @ Spark Plaza meetup. On the second Tuesday of every month, TriCities Java Script hosts a meetup at Spark Plaza. Everyone is welcome! This month’s meetup will be on Tuesday, February 9 at 6:00p.m.

Last, but most definitely not least, on the February itinerary is Spark Plaza’s Happy Hour! This month, Happy Hour will be hosted at Tupelo Honey Café in downtown Johnson City on Tuesday, February 16 at 5:00p.m.

We’re so excited that more events and meetups are happening within the Spark Plaza community! Hopefully every month’s newsletter will look like this one. Have a spicy February!
